Our History – Find out how we got here

Founded in 1980, in Blumenau – SC, Almeida Junior initially worked in the real estate business (homebuilder) and from the 90’s onwards began to invest in the mall segment, opening its first venture in 1993 – Neumarkt Shopping. Today Almeida Junior has six consolidated malls, all in Santa Catarina.

The company is present in the most economically important regions of the state: Blumenau (with Neumarkt Shopping and Norte Shopping), Joinville (with Garten Shopping), Grande Florianópolis (with Continente Shopping), Balneário Camboriú (with Balneário Shopping) and Criciúma (with Nações Shopping). Currently, Almeida Junior’s six malls total 226 thousand sq.m. of GLA (Gross Leasable Area) and more than 1,500 stores.

The creation of a mall chain allowed the company to bet on a differential that no other company in the sector can offer in the State: offer shopkeepers the possibility of being in several consolidated malls in different regions, with favorable conditions for the development of the business.

Another constant concern of Almeida Junior is with the tenant mix, which respects a composition of balance between local, regional, national and international operations, in addition to anchors and megastores. All projects are focused on a performance based on five pillars: fashion, entertainment, gastronomy, innovation and well-being, which together converge to provide the best experience at Almeida Junior malls.

Gastronomy

Almeida Junior malls attracted several players in the gastronomy segment, which considerably expanded the food mix and brought sophisticated gourmet options to the projects, in differentiated spaces.

Fashion

The company’s malls have established themselves as a reference in fashion with a mix made up of several national and international brands, aimed at consumers of all levels with a focus on fast fashion.

Entertainment

The company reinforces its vocation as the best leisure option for its mall customers, offering the best movie theaters in Santa Catarina, large areas for indoor entertainment, in addition to a diversified cultural program and event calendars for all tastes and ages.

Well-being

Well-being gains special attention at Almeida Junior malls. Each space is designed to make people feel comfortable, safe and at ease. The concern begins with the architectural design of the projects, which aims to make the most of natural light, with wide corridors and lounges that provide a pleasant feeling of well-being. The affection and care for customers is reflected in every detail.
